Some people may think that couponing is not worth the hassle for the money you save. But, I have to differ with those kinds of thinkers. I have seen my own household budget benefit too much from couponing to say it is not worth it. I use to struggle to “get by” with spending $400 per month for our groceries and household needs. I would go once a month to the grocery store and I would by a lot of no-name items just so I could stay within my $400 budget. The average American family (family of 4) spends around $400 - $600 per month on groceries and household needs! (And that might be a “modest” estimate.) Thanks to couponing I now spend $200 per month on groceries and household needs…and…YES…this is including my child’s diapers (and he only wears Huggies or Pampers!) I now buy ONLY name brand items!! I cannot remember the last time I bought a no-name brand. I am trying new products that I would have never tried before in the past. But most of all, by cutting my grocery budget so low, it has allowed us to put that much needed money somewhere else. For us, it is put towards getting out of debt!(I just want to give a BIG !ShOuT oUt! to Dave Ramsey, who is teaching us, how to get out of debt; God’s way!) I get to be a stay at home mother. I now can go grocery shopping with a peace of mind and not drudgery. And with learning how to stockpile, I never “need” to go to the grocery store. I can now choose to NOT go grocery shopping – because my stockpile is full! So, yes, if you were to ask me is the time you put into couponing worth it – MOST DEFINITELY!
